Tatiiana's Application
Real Name: Sonette
Age : 30
Character Name: Tatiiana
Race : Human
Class : Mage
Level : 80
Profile: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Nordrassil&cn=Tatiiana
Professions: Tailoring (450), Enchanting (450)
Availability: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday
Play time per week: 15-20 Hours
Which guilds have you previously been in and why did you leave? No offensive comments please.
* Warriors of Light(Blade's Edge) - was a leveling guild only
* Performance (Blade's Edge) - a guild with a core group of friends who
preferred to do 10 man runs
* Momentum (Nordrassil) - Had two awesome mages and did a lot of 10 man
runs so a raiding spot was scarce
* Hotfixed (Nordrassil) - been struggling with my performance recently so
I decided to leave as I could not get a raiding spot. It's an awesome
guild(I'd rather be honest about this)
Tell us about your previous raid experience-include whether this experience is on the Toon you are applying on.
I started playing just before the WOTLK expansion was released. I did not like the OL at all so skipped through it pretty much as fast as possible not really focussing on raiding at that point. I started raiding very late and always on a casual basis. I then decided that there should be more to the game and started to focus on raiding, moving from the leveling guild I was in to my first raiding guild. I did several Naxx runs with them and they just started with Ulduar. I then moved server to join a friend in Momentum. There I did most of my ToC runs. I joined Hotfixed where I did the majority of my raiding includine ToTGC 10 man and 25 man. I also did all my ICC 10 and 25 man runs with them.
Tell us about the real you.
I am a well-educated professional in a management position. I started playing WoW as an outlet for stress. Nothing like bashing in something after a hectic day. I am also a perfectionist and will not accept if I do not perform well, I do not believe in riding on the rest of the guild and not pulling my weight in a raid. I enjoy chatting to friends and guildies.
What are you going to bring to the guild?
I am a dedicated player with a lot of experience.
Why did you pick us over any of the other guilds on the server? What do you expect from Prepared?
I basically went to Wowprogress and looked at the other guilds on the server. Prepared is progressing at a steady pace and that's basically what I'm looking for.
What's going to happen the first time you don't get picked for a raid?
Hahaha, I have some experience in this facet of the game, so I know how to deal with it, unless it's a regular occurance. Then I'm clearly not suited to the needs of the guild.
Tell us about your spec. Why did you pick it, would you change it?
It took me ages to change from Frostfire to Arcane as I just did not like playing it. It was only when another mage destroyed me with dps in UK that I decided to give it a try and once I learnt the mechanics of it, I really enjoyed it. This was long before it became the essential spec for mages.
Do you know anyone in Prepared who would be able to vouch for you both as a player and as a person? (We will check!)
No
Bonus Question 1: 1. What are your ambitions in WotLK and WoW in general?
The same as most I guess, to complete all raiding content (WOTLK) and to enjoy the game.
Bonus Question 2: 2. What would you do if we stopped raiding for 2 weeks?
Catch up on some sleep
Bonus Question 3: 3. The Simpsons or Family Guy?
neither but if I have to choose it would be "The Simpsons"
Yes, I have read and accepted Prepared guild rules.

Welcome to the forums!
This looks like a solid application, and we could do with something Magey.
A quick question from me-
This a tad bit confusing:

Your honesty is appretiated, but are you saying you've been performing poorly in raids? Naturally that's not a big selling point If it is poor raid performance, what have you done/are you aiming to do to improve this?

I'll leave the mage critique to others more knowledgeable, however I do have some questions.
You have attended 4/14 of Hotfixed's recently logged raids on WoL. How much of this is down to low attendance and how much is due to rotation?
Hotfixed are a guild at a very similar level to ourselves (I believe they've just downed Sindragosa, we've got her down to sub 10% and are aiming to also manage that this week). If you've been struggling with your performance in Hotfixed, what makes you think you can do better with us?
I've been having a look through your recent WoL reports. Your damage is generally one of the lowest in each raid. Your gear is of a pretty high standard, so this doesn't cover it. Some of this is down to fairly low survivability, low active time, and (comparing you with other mages in Hotfixed) your damage splits suggest you're not using your abilities optimally.
How do you propose you'd go about addressing some of these concerns?

Hi there,
I understand your concerns and the fact that I'm honest about recent performance issues is due to the fact that it is easy to verify the facts with anyone in Hotfixed. I would be a fool to try and hide it.
Of recent times there were 28 - 30 members online on raid nights, needless to say with 2 good mages already in the raid I did not get a spot. I'm fully aware of the WoL info as once again I'm not trying to bullshit anyone.
Moving from a guild such as Hotfixed - and I left on my own accord - to another guild means I will look at a similar setup. I'm asking for an opportunity to find my confidence again. You have a trial period and should you not be happy with my performance then by all means I will leave. I have no intention of taking a free ride for my benefit.
Yes I may not promote myself positively but I don't believe in dishonesty.

First off, you've applied at a good time as we're currently in need of a new mage. So we don't expect you to be competing with our top dps straight from the word go. However, while we're prepared to consider someone who does need to improve their performance, we need signs that improvements are what we'll see in order to give you a shot.
With that in mind, I'll rephrase the question. What aspects of your performance do you think aren't quite up to scratch right now, and how do you plan to go about improving this in raids?
Also, how many raids would you realistically expect to attend per week? We raid wed, thur, sun, mon.

Let me answer your last question first ... I have a near to 98% raid attendance. I do not miss a raid. I have 1 Wednesday a month where I may be late as I have a monthly pre-scheduled meeting. It is always the third Wednesday of the month.
I do not have a problem with performance on the fights I know. It is when it's a new fight and specifically when I do not know all the dynamics of the fight. Watching a video on Tankspot and reading the notes on the fight help to a limited degree. It is experiencing the actual fight and to then gain awareness of all the factors. This is where I have a problem. Awareness in new fights.
I do not just sit back and expect improvement to fall from the sky. I do research, practise on dummies, casting while moving etc. I will even look into pvp though I've never been a great fan of it. I've said in my application I'm a perfectionist. It would've been easy to either move server where no one can really get info on me or to apply at a social guild, but I need to fix this .. the preverbial "get on the bike again if you've fallen off"
Thanks though for taking the time to reply on my application
PS. the 4/14 raids logged on WoL are the only ones I got a spot for. I was online for 13 of them and got the EPGP for it.

Hi Sonette,
I know nothing of mages - except that you have a cool crit buff that me likes
In terms of learning new fights I can understand where you are coming from. Mages like Moonkin are not very mobile with their dps so have to stand still for as long as possible to maximise damage.
Firstly I would suggest getting your UI sorted out with a boss mods that works for you. I find turning off all of the warnings I dont need to know about in a fight helps, so if my screen lights up I know I gotta move my butt. And leave the middle of your screen clear so you can see your little buddie and the fire they are standing in.
The other bit of advice is stay alive! Sounds stupid but if you die trying to eeck out that last bit of damage before an aoe or something, then are face down for the rest of the fight this stops you doing any more damage and also you don't learn the fight as well. (Actually doing a fight is much better than watching). Damage will suffer till you get good at the fight but staying alive is more important.
Not intended as a lecture more a "things to try if you are struggling".
GL with the app.

Hi and welcome to the forums.
From my point of view this looks like a good app so the best of luck with it.
Just to be clear though there will still be times where it's necessary to be rotated out however, I can say it wouldn't be 11 rotations out of 14 if you were present at start of each evening

We don't really have a high attendance mage at the moment, and I don't really see any complaints from the guild and our mages about your application. This is looking very good for you!
Give me a shout this evening between 19-20 server time and we'll see about getting you on board.
